How is DNA replication restricted?

A

In the S phase of interphase, MCM molecules are attached onto the DNA at the origin of replication. This replication allows for the placement of DNA Helycase, and once the dna has been replicated, the MCM complexes are no longer in the position to allow the attachment of DNA Helicase, in essence not allowing it to replicate again
