Cell Cycle Flashcards
The division of cytoplasm that begins during telophase
cytokinesis
This links sister chromatids together during mitosis.
centromere
A group of proteins associated with the centromere of a chromosome during cell division, to which the spindle fibers attach.
kinetcochare
Center of the cell where the sister chromatids line up during metaphase.
equator
A groove formed from the cell membrane in a dividing cell during telophase, as the contractile ring tightens.
cleavage furrow
Seen in the nucleus during interphase & looks thin & stringy.
Chromatin
Darkly stained rod-like bodies seen during mitosis
Chromosomes
A duplicated pair of chromosome attached at the centromere & seen during early stages of mitosis.
Chromatid
Microtubules formed by the centrioles which attach to the kinetochore and help pull the chromosomes during mitosis.
Spindle fibers
a type of cell division that results in four daughter cells each with half the number of chromosomes of the parent cell. it occurs in the gametes
meiosis
Help form and organize the spindle fibers during mitosis.
