Cell Cycle Flashcards
what is interphase
interphase is where the cell grows and replicates, it has 3 parts G1, S and G2. The cell is in interphase for 90% of its life
What is mitosis
the process the cell goes thru to divide. 5 phases - prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase
cytokinesis
the cell membrane pinches together to divide the cells cytoplasm and organelles into 2 cells, the cell fully divides into a sister cell
interphase
DNA starts as chromatin. dna replication occurs
centromere
stays in the middle of the sister chromatids and holds them together
pro phase
centrioles appear and begin to move to opposite sides of the cell. produce spindle fibres , chromosomes coil up into x shaped chromosome , nucleus disappears
metaphase
spindle fibers fully attached to the centromere, chromosomes line up across the middle of the cell to seperate
anaphase
chromatids seperate at the centromere
telophase
spindle fiber disappear, chromosomes appear as threads not rods, mitosis ends here
cytokinesis
the cells cytoplasm and organelles divide into 2 cells, 2 nuclei are seperatef and 2 new daughter cells form
