CE172 Basics Flashcards
What is the max airspeed that windows can be opened?
Vne 163 knots
How does the C172 heater system work?
Heated air is ducted from the exhaust shroud to a metal box on the firewall. This box has an airflow valve controlled by the “Cabin HT” knob in the cabin. This valve blocks or allows air to flow into the cabin, through the firewall. When the valve is closed/blocked, the hot air, which is continuously piped to the box, is released from an overhead vent, dumping the heat into the engine cowling.
How will we know if there are high CO levels in the cabin?
G1000 is equipped with a CO detector, which will chime and display a warning message “CO LVL HIGH” on the PFD, if CO reaches a dangerous level.

What type of ailerons does C172 have?
Differential Frise (“Freece”) Differential - aileron goes up more than down in actuation Frise - leading edge of aileron dips below chord line into the wind stream. This counters adverse yaw from aileron deflection.
