1 Air Gauge & Governor Cutoff Check

A

1. Fan air pressure to 90 psi.
2. Start vehicle in NIGHT RUN.
3. Ensure air gauge working & builds pressure 2 governor cutoff (120-140 psi).
4. “THE AIR GAUGE IS WORKING.”
5. “THE GOVERNOR CUTOFF ENGAGED.
6. THE VALVE IS W/I RANGE & PASSED.”

2 Air Leakage Rate Test

A
  1. Shut off engine & return key to “night run.”
  2. Fully apply service brake.
  3. Release parking brake.
  4. “Once air gauge has stabilized,” hold service brake for one minute.
  5. “Air gauge must not drop more than 3 lbs. in 1 minute.”

3 Air Warning Device Test

A
  1. Begin fanning off pressure w/o starting engine.
    2.“The low air warning device (light) should activate BEFORE air pressure drops below 55 psi.”

4 Emergency Brake Valve Test

A
  1. Continue to fan off air pressure.
  2. “The air brake valve should close (pop out) between 20-45 psi.

5 Parking Break Test

A

“If wheel chocks were placed, remove them.
1. Start engine in “night run.”
2. Build air pressure.
3. Place coach into drive.
4. Allow coach to roll forward @ not more than 2 mph.
5. Pop parking brake.

6 Service Brake

A
  1. Release parking brake.
  2. Pull forward to no more than 5 mph, apply the service brake, coming to complete stop
  3. “Checking to see that vehicle stops and does not pull to one side or the other.”
  4. Turn the master switch to off, then to “Night run.”

Make sure dash indicators work when the vehicle starts & when corresponding lights are turned on. Activate and point to each:
1. DEF indicator
2. ABS indicator came on and went off when starting the bus.
3. Start engine.
4. Left turn signal.
5. Right turn signal.
6. High beam.
7. Four-way.

  6. “Lift/ramp is not leaking, damaged or missing parts.”
  7. “Lift/ramp is fully retracted and latched securely.”
    TO OPERATE RAMP:
  8. Shift to neutral.
  9. Engage parking brake.
  10. Kneel bus.
  11. Power ramp on.
  12. Deploy and retract ramp.
  13. Shut off engine.

4. Taillights (flat hand).
5. Brake lights (clenched fist).
HOLD DOWN SERVICE BRAKE.
RELEASE PARKING BRAKE.
(BRAKE LIGHTS SHOULD FLASH).
REAPPLY PARKING BRAKE.
TURN MASTER SWITCH OFF, THEN “NIGHT RUN.”
