Before I begin the three point airbrake test, I will reduce air pressure to 90 psi and allow the pressure to build back up to 120-140 psi and listen for the governor to cut off.
100
I am now ready to begin the three-point airbrake test. Would you like me to chock the wheels?
101
Step 1
With air pressure built up to governor cut off 120 to 140 psi I will shut off the engine, leaving the key in the run position. I will release the parking brake and fully apply the foot brake. I will hold the foot break for one minute. I will make sure the air pressure does not drop more than 3 pounds of pressure in one minute for this single vehicle.
102
Step 2
I will begin fanning off the air pressure and listen for the low air warning device to activate before air pressure drops below 55 psi.
103
Step 3
I will continue to fan off the air pressure. At a range between 20 to 45 psi the parking brake valve should close or pop out.
