Refers to a disease that occurs infrequently and irregularly (time and location)
SPORADIC
Refers to constant presence and / or usual prevalence of a disaster or infectious agent in a population within a geographic area (time and location)
ENDEMIC
(Large Scale)/ Outbreak (Small scale) Refers to a sudden increase in the number of cases of a disease above what is normally expected in that population in that area.
EPIDEMIC
Refers to an epidemic that has spread over several countries or continents, usually affecting a large number of people.
PANDEMIC
pathogens, germs, microorganisms that infect and cause a disease
Causative agent
Sources of the microorganism can be biological or inanimate.
Reservoir
The way the causative agent leaves the reservoir.
Portal of exit
The method the causative agent is able to spread from one person to another person makes an infection a communicable.
Mode of Transmission
Mother to baby, Placenta or Breastmilk.
Vertical transfer
immediate transfer from person to person.
Direct (Horizontal)
A type of transmission thru formites (vehicle) or thru animals & insects (vector).
Indirect
Occur only if the source and the host are within 1 m (3 ft) of each other, more than 60icrograms, >5μm
Droplet
Can occur regardless of close or fsr distances between hosts and agents, less than 60 micrograms
Airborne
any person who is at risk for infection.
Susceptible Host
The way the causative agent enters the host.
