Follow and Support
A tactical mission task in which a committed force follows and supports a lead force conducting an offensive task

Levels of War
- Strategic- develops an idea or set of ideas for employing the instruments of national poet in synchronized and integrated fashion to achieve theatre, national and or multinational objectives
- Operational- links the tactical employment of force to national and military strategic objectives. the focus at this level is on the design, planning, and execution of operations using operational art- the application of creative imagination
- Tactical- the employment and ordered arrangement of forces in relation to each other. Joint doctrine focuses this term on planning and executing battles, engagements, and other activities at the tactical level to achieve military objectives assigned to tactical units or task forces
Fundamentals of Reconnaissance
- ensure continuous reconnaissance
- do not keep reconnaissance assets in reserve
- orient on the recon objective
- report information rapidly and accurately
- Retain freedom of maneuver
- gain and maintain enemy contact
- develop the situation rapidly
Screen
security task that primarily provides early warning to the protected force
Guard
security task to protect the main body by fighting to gain time while also observing and reporting information and preventing enemy ground observation of and direct fire against the main body. Units conducting a guard mission cannot operate independently because they rely on upon fires and multi/functional support assets of the main body
Cover
security task to protect the main body by fighting to gain time while also reporting and observing information and preventing enemy ground observation of and direct fire against the main body
