CBT info Flashcards
Altitude for engine starting with APU bleed air
13,000
Max APU ALT for bleed air use
15,000
10th stage sources and services
sources:
engine
APU
External
Services:
Engine starting
Pressurization
Air conditioning
10th stage Valves
each engine manifold has a SOV
ISOL valve to isolate pressure from each engine to respective side or allow one engine to power both sides.
LCV - interlock protection. load control valve. spring loaded closed in the event of pneumatic or electric power loss. (if switch light illuminates FAIL amber - Valve has failed open when interlock commanded it to be shut)
When will LCV open/close
Will be open if both R and L 10th stage SOV switch lights are selected off.
Will close if: 1. Left 10th stage SOV is open
2. If Right 10th stage SOV and ISOL valve open
14th stage Services, Valves
14th Stage source only from engine:
Supplies Thrust reversers / Anti Ice .
Has L/R SOV and ISOL valve. The left and right SOV are fail safe open with loss of 14th stage air or elec power in order to still provide thrust reversers power. the Anti ice wind and Cowl SOV are controlled by the anti ice system
Bleed Misconfig
Caution message that occurs if:
Landing gear down or flaps > 0 And
10th stage SOV OPEN
Wing or Cowel anti Ice on.
When using 14th stage during takeoff or landing APU must be providing 10th stage bleed air.
Components of air conditioning system and Duties of L/R
2 Packs
Left supplies cockpit air
Right supplies Cabin air
Right also supplies cargo air - preset temp not controlled by flight crew.
System incudes
2 packs - Temp controller - distribution ducts
Both share ram air and exhaust duct
1 can supply air to cabin and cockpit to limited degree (limited to FL250)
Each pack has a PRSOV to reduce 10th stage pressure prior to pack.
Can manually or automatically control temp
Primary source of air conditioning
Engine 10th stage
APU is secondary and used for max performance T/O
Three sources of External air
Air conditioning cart
bottle
Low pressure conditioned air - Bypasses packs
How is pressurization control achieved
Controlled by two independent CPC’s (cabin pressure controllers) only one works at a time to regulate the two outflow / safety valves. Set manually or Auto by crew - Auto only requires landing elv to be set
Manual pressurization control pilot duties
Select PRESS CONT which will illuminate MAN (manual)
EICAS pressure information will be displayed on primary page. Must follow QRH
CPAM -cabin pressure acquisition model will display what messages
"CABIN ALT" Warning Cabin press >10,000ft Arural Caution >8,500 to 10,000 OXY masks deploy 14,000 +- 500 ft Seat belt signs on > 10,000 if in AUTO if CPAM fails, CPC will still display IECAS msgs but OXY and seat belt msgs won't work
DUCT FAIL
illuminates red on either 14 or 10 stage switch lights indicates bleed air leak
Display fan controls
Two knobs
Left Knob = Display fans
3 fans - 1 operates
Norm is normal ops
ALTN GND - allows flight fan to cool racks when on ground
ALTN FLT - allows ground fan to cool racks in flight
STBY - in event others fail
Right knob - AIRINC only 2
NORM
GND ALT and FLIGHT ALT - no stay
