A

-studies depressed adolescents
-found 81% of symptoms had significantly been improved after CBT
-86% symptoms had been improved if CBT is combined with antidepressants
-therefore challenging irrational and negative thoughts i effective when reducing symptoms of depression
-popular

A

-e.g Shezad Ali et al
-assessed the dep of 439 patient every month for 12 months over a course of CBT
-found 53% of patients relapsed within a year of end of treatment
-CBT may be effective if tackling depp short term
-patients may need to engage in treatment regularly
-reduce effective treatment long term
