biomechanical treatment plan for pt presenting w/ piriformis syndrome
- initial management w/ OMT to reduce mechanical strain to piriformis

- may start physical therapy to strengthen core muscles and stability

- remove wallet, decrease repetitive pressure on piriformis m.
- discuss potential for addiction w/ use of opioids and negative effects of smoking
- offer psychological referal to help dealing w/ pain and substance use disorders

start with gentler treatments like soft tissue, MFR, FPR, CS
when to use HVLA in a pt presenting with piriformis syndrome
no HVLA until red flag diagnoses are ruled out
