CB1B Plant and Animal Cells Flashcards
What parts make up an Animal Cell and Plant Cell and how do they relate to their function ?
Cell Membrane: Controls what enters and leaves the cell
Nucleus: Controls the cell and its activities and has genetic material such as DNA
Cytoplasm: Jelly like material where chemical reactions take place
Mitochondria: Where aerobic respiration occurs and provides cell with energy to function
Ribosomes: Tiny structures where protein synthesis occurs
What extra parts make up a Plant cell
Cell Wall: Made of cellulose and supports and strengthens the cell
Large Vaculoe: Contains cell sap, a weak solution of sugar and salts. Mantains the internal pressure to support the cell
Chloroplasts: These are where photosynthesis occurs, which makes food for the plant. They contain clorophyll
What is the definition of eukaryotic ?
A cell with a nucleus
