What was the ‘catalyst’ for the revolution?
Bread shortages which causes long queues and violence

International Women’s Day took place on the 23rd February and the march was joined by 90,000 workers with 50 factories closing
What was the peak amount of people that joined the strikes during the February Revolution?
250,000 people which was over half of Petrograd’s workforce causing the city to be at a standstill
What did some of the soldiers that were sent in to deal with the unrest do?
They mutinied, e.g. the Volynskii regiment’s commanding officer was shot and killed by a sergeant. 66,000 soldiers mutinied and armed the protestors.
What did the Duma do in response to the unrest?
The Duma held a meeting despite the Tsar’s orders and set up a 12 man Provisional Committee to take over government
