Stamp Act:

A

Passed in November, 1765. This imposed taxes on all legal documents…. Marriage license, newspaper, property deeds, playing cards, contracts, ect….. You pay a tax to receive a stamp/British seal on those important documents. Because of this act, a group was formed called the Sons of Liberty.

A

First occurred on March 24, 1765. Forcing colonists to provide housing and food to british troops. The soldiers did not have t pay for what they used or took (as a solider: I like that coat, I will take it for free).

Tea Act

A

Passed on May 10, 1773. Allowed the British East India Company to sell tea to the colonies without the usual colonial tax. It granted a monopoly on the trade in America to the East Indies Company. The colonists had to buy tea only from that company. This led to widespread boycotts of tea throughout the colonies.
