Both the French and British colonists wanted the same land. They wanted the Ohio River Valley because it could make them rich from FUR and had great FARM land.

A plan for the British colonies to all unite under one government to fight the French.

The British colonies did not want to give up power to a central government and they did not want to pay taxes for the war- they figured that since they were British citizen the British army could fight the war for them.

What was Pontiac’s Rebellion? Why did it happen? (pg1,2)
At the end of the French and Indian War, Native American land was given to the British. The Native Americans were mad and wanted to make sure the British did not settle there. Chief Pontiac encouraged tribes to attack and kill British forts and settlements.
What was the Proclamation of 1763? (pg1,2)
Law passed by Parliament which banned colonists from moving west of the Appalachian Mountains.

The British government was in debt and could not afford to protect the western border. This would reduce Native American attacks by preventing colonists from moving onto Native land.

They were a set of rules to make sure colonial trade benefited Great Britain. Certain raw materials HAD to be shipped to Great Britain and only British ships could be used. (colonist only followed these enought to keep Great Britain happy)

He was a very young British soldier and was given the task of passing a message to the French soldiers that they needed to leave land Virgina also claimed. He ended up in some small battles which began the French and Indian War.
