A

What was Pontiac’s Rebellion? Why did it happen? (pg1,2)

A

At the end of the French and Indian War, Native American land was given to the British. The Native Americans were mad and wanted to make sure the British did not settle there. Chief Pontiac encouraged tribes to attack and kill British forts and settlements.

A

Taxes on goods colonists bought. These taxes were a little hidden and were paid for by the business when the goods entered the colonies. The price of the tax was then just included in the purchase price of the item. Parliament was hoping that the colonists would not notice the taxes.

The Townshend Acts were tariffs or import taxes. The Stamp Act was a direct tax paid at the time of purchase by the colonist.

A

A protest got violent in Boston. The British soldiers were being taunted. The soldiers fired into the crowd and 5 died. The colonists exaggerated what happened to make more people angry with the British.
