Direct Cause
A
The plaintiff would not have been harmed “but-for” the defendant’s conduct, or the defendant’s conduct was a substantial factor in bringing about the harm

A
It must be shown that the harm suffered by the plaintiff was a reasonably foreseeable result based on the defendant’s conduct

Reasonable foreseeability requires only that the defendant should have foreseen the general type of risk that caused the accident
