Pyelonephritis, renal amyloidosis

What is the aetiology of pyelonephritis?
A
Haematogenous spread/bacteraemia or ascending infection from the LUT. (E. coli, Corynebacterium renale)

Enlarged kidneys Haematuria Pyuria Dysuria PU Ill thrift Colic

What changes would be expected on dipstick test?
A
WBC and RBC in urine, proteinuria

A
10-14d broad specturm Ab e.g. Penicillin, Amoxycillin clavulanate

Ill thrift Oedema D+ Enlarged kidney Frothy urine

A
