Catholicism Review Chapter 5 Flashcards

1
Q

Mary’s “yes” vs. Eve’s “no

A

Mary said her complete fiat or yes to the will of God. Eve disobeyed. Mary’s yes undoes Eve’s no. As Christians we can be frustrated with Eve and her disobedience, but we should rejoice in Mary’s yes. We should look to Mary as an example of being obedient to God and to His will ( which is love )

Q

Jesus’s “yes” vs. Adam’s omission

A

Jesus’ yes to the Father and his great act of love vs. Adam’s sin of omission - doing nothing to stop the evil, being complicit with it. Jesus’ supernatural action of love on the cross undoes Adam’s lack of love and action in the garden. We should rejoice with Jesus’ great sacrifice. We should ask for forgiveness and God’s help when acting like Adam
