What the 7 terms in catholic social teaching
Dignity, solidarity, the common good, prederential option for the poor, Subsidarity, participation and care for the common home
Human dignity
We are all made in God’s image so we are all equals and should therefore treat each other as such
Soliarity
The idea that we are all one big family /community and should help each other and give up for one another that are in need
Common good
All gifts on Earth are for everyone so should be shared
Preferential option for the poor
We should priorotise the women, men and children who are vunerable to extreme poverty and injustice
Subsidarity
Every person has rhe right to participate in the decisions that affect their own life
Participation
Every person has the ability to make changes to their own life and the world around them
Care for common home
We should all take care of our common home (the world) and that we should protect God’s creation and one another

What is inequality
When there is a major difference in power, wealth, resources, opportunities ect….
What is the laity
Members of a church who aren’t exactly working in the church but still bave a duty to carry out God’s will
What is a Lay person
A person in the church who carries out God’s will without being ordained (plural is laity)
Poverty
Barely having enough money for basic needs
Relative poverty
Having an income bellow the average amount
Absolute poverty
Severe deprivation of basic needs (food, water, clothes, housing, health)
Emerging Nation (Under-developed)
A country with low income to meet basic needs countries include: Nepal, Bhutan, Rwanda and Afghanastan)
MEDC (More Economically Developed Country)
A country with a strong economy, many opportunities and where the majority have a high standard of living ,countries include: Britain, USA, France, Canada, Australia
