Tremor/ types
Most common!!!!!
Rythemic movement in one body part. (action tremmor or resting)
Types:
Toxic tremors - due to meds, toxins, withdrawl
cellebellar tremor
Athetosis
inability to keep body in one position- slow writing CP
Ballism
abrupt contractions of limbs - people can fall down. LARGE CONTRATIONS
Chorea
Rapid involentary, random movement part of body subtle or severe (action or at rest) huntingtons chorea (progressive/genetic)
Spasm - types, what does it describe?
– tonic - continuous,
-clonic- repetitive and don’t last long.
cause and limit motion.
Spasm is also used to describe dystonia abnormal postures.
Myoclonus
single involuntary, brief movements of a body part –like a jerk, can be rhythmic or not.
(action or at rest)
May occur in epilepsy.Hiccups (medulla)
Tics
What does it look like?
PARTIAL VOL. CONTROL! Tourette's Rapid/patterned Simple: look like dystonia/myoclonus Complex
Tardive dyskinesia
antipsychotic drugs - orofacial dyskinesias
akathisia (motor restlessness)
Dystonia
slow abnormal (nonrythmic) postures or Can have quick myoclonic movments involved
focal mouth dystonia or orofacial dyskinesia
*writers cramp
