- visusdaling
- verstrooiing van het licht (“glare”)).
- Monoculair dubbelzien
- kleurenzien minder
belangrijkste (vermijdbare) oorzaak blindheid wereldwijd!

A
meest vorokomend 25% van 80-jarigen

traumatisch cataract
A
ontstaat door stomp geweld of penetratie lenskapsel
typerend: rosette cataract met troebeling in vorm van bloem

metabool cataract
A
diabetes mellitus, hypocalciemie, myotone dystrofie (christmas tree), M. Wilson (sunflower)

Behandeling
A
phacoemulsificatie (verwijderen troebele ooglens en implantatie kunstlens)
complicaties: endopthalmitis + hypopyon!
kapselruptuur + dropped nucleus
postoperatief oogdruppels ter voorkoming complicaties
