management of congenital cataract

A
  1. refer to an ophthalmologist for early surgery to prevent risk of stimulus deprivation, amblyopia and nystagmus
  2. accurate refractive correction pre and post surgery
  3. Px reassurance- little impact on vision and in most cases not dense and rarely progressive
  4. Px education to monitor opacity and visual function
