Cashmere | What are the unique qualities of Inner Mongolian fibres?
whiteness / more fine
is perceived as better quality
Cashmere | Rangeland vs Farming Systems Cashmere, what are the pros and cons?
Typically Mongolia is rangeland based, and Inner Mongolia is farming systems.
Rangeland based: more roaming, promotes natural behaviors, allows for natural breeding, but food/water can be limited and more exposure to predators
Farming system: steady flow of food/water, protection from changing weather conditions, less predators, cons is less space and more confined
Cashmere | Where do we source our cashmere?
Mongolia
Inner Mongolia (Ordos, Chifeng, Xilingol, Bayannur)
***Typically Inner Mongolia is known for having better quality fibres
Traceability Program | What is the order deadline and what’s the minimum quantity?
order deadline is mid-march before harvesting collection begins
min quantity - 3 tonnes
When is cashmere harvesting season for UPW’s partner farms?
The dehair process is only performed from End April to Mid of June.
It gives enough time for goats to grow the hair back to protect them from winter.
