Donoghue v Stevenson
There was a snail in Donoghues drink and she drank it, it made her feel very unstable and ill. She claimed against the manufacturer of the beer and gained compensation.
Kent v Griffiths
Kent was having an asthma attack, her doctor came to her home and called an ambulance at 16:25. The ambulance was only 6 miles away however didn’t arrive until 17:05. She suffered 2 respiratory attacks. Evidence was given that the woman knew about the delay and way advised to get her husband to drive her to hospital.
Jolley v Sutton Borough council
SBC left a dangerous boat abandoned on a beach. They left a sign saying that it was dangerous. It also had a notice on it claiming that if it wasn’t moved by the owner they would remove it in the next week. Two teenage boys saw it and tried to move it many times however couldn’t o they went away and came back to try and do it again. The boat then fell on top of one the boys causing severe injuries.
