What risks did you identify as inherent in the replacement of guards with technology?
Guards are more effective, increased risk of damage to property. Technology is less of a deterrent
What advice did you give to ensure that the risks are mitigated?
If the site is in a high risk area, technology would not replace the manned guard. I would also advise that in medium risk areas that a patrol is conducted weekly during school holiday/events
Explain the justification for using technology over guards.
Technology is cheaper and more cost efficient. Already on site, easier to mobilise
Why did you advise VINCI to review the gainshare even though there were not obligated to do so?
Not reviewing would have impacted client-contractor relationships. Not showing willing to adapt to contract changes
What benefits will the new technology to be deployed for security have as compared to the old one?
New technology can be monitored in real time. Has a speaker so can communicate and show someone is watching other than a generic message. Better cameras, some of them have 360 views.
How did you advise your client on the cost implication of the new technology compared to the benefit to be derived from it?
Baselinging against the new technology would have impacted the bottom line and NP. It would have meant finding additional sources of funding and could have impacted the quality of the service that we provide if roles not funded. Advised that new technology would still be used so Client getting benefit however, for the GS to not baseline against as GS reduced.
