What is a directions questionnaire and what form is needed?
Document used by the court to confirm the track and to determine directions for case management.
Form N181 - parties must consult one another and co-operate in completing it.
What are the 4 allocations to track?
Small claims - claims for £10,000 or less.
Fast track - claims valued between £10,000 and £25,000.
Intermediate track - less complex claims valued at more than £25,000 but not more than £100,000.
Multi track - most complex claims, value more than £100,000.
What is a case management conference (CMC)
Review the progress the parties have made in a multi track case.
Case summary will be prepared in most cases - claimant is responsible to prepare, it should also be agreed by the other parties.
What is precedent H, R, T
H - form used by parties to perform a cost budget.
R - parties must complete a budget discussion report no later than 7 days before the first CMC.
T - parties must file a budget variation summary sheet if they want to change a cost budget.
When must a cost budget be filed and what is the failure of not doing it in time?
For claims less than £50,000 - must be filed with direction questionnaire.
For all other claims - within 21 days before the first CMC.

Failure to do so will be treated as having filed a cost budget consisting of court fees only.
Costs management order
Court will control the parties budget so that the parties are tied to their costs budget even if the litigation proves far more expensive than anticipated.
