DDx of urinary incontinence
Treatment
What is GSUI?
What is UUI
Genuine stress urinary incontinence
Urge urinary incontinence
Painless loss of urine concurrent with Valsalva; no urge to void
GSUI - Genuine stress urinary incontinence
Constant leakage after surgery or post - labor
Fistula
Urge to go to bathroom and can’t make it there in time
UUI - Urge urinary incontinence
Loss of urine with Valsalva ;dribbling; underlying DM or spinal cord injury
Overflow incontinence
Examination for DDx for Urinary incontinenece
Physical examination
Cystometri examination - GSUI, UUI
Postvoid residual (catheterization)
Dye into bladder
Treatment for GSUI &
Treatment for UUI
GSUI - Urethropexy (Burch procedure or urethral sling) to return proximal urethra back to intra-abdominal position)
UUI - Anticholinergic medication to relax detrusor muscle (surgery may worsen)
