On what date were you on duty?
8th August 2014
At what time and to where did you receive an urgent call?
Around 10a.m. to Murrayfield High Street
What did you see when you arrived?
A large group of youths about 20 metres away
How many people were there?
Around 30 people
What were the protestors doing?
Shouting, running backwards and forwards, some were smashing windows of shops, and cars had been set alight.
How did you feel?
Scared.
What happened after your arrival?
I stayed in the car as there weren’t any other officers available.
Did anyone stand out?
One person did as she was throwing bottles at the car.
What was she wearing?
A dark blue sports hoody, hood up, and dark tracksuit bottoms.
What brand was the hoody?
I couldn’t quite see the brand.
How would you describe her physical appearance?
Around 5’7” and a little bit plump.
What about their face?
I got a really good look since they stopped for a couple of seconds and looked directly at the car.
How far away were they?
Around 15 metres.
How did you see their face?
The area was well lit with street lamps and surrounding fires.
At what point did the crowd disperse?
When other police cars arrived.
What did this person do, whom you pointed out earlier?
She ran off towards Eden Park.
What happened after she ran off?
We chased after her but lost her as she entered the park, since it was dark.
Can you describe this park.
There are two entrances which is surrounded by fence.
Did you see the woman at all, later that night?
Yes, around 5 minutes later, as we drove down Lansdowne Road, I saw the same woman.
What was she doing, when you saw her again?
At first she was running towards the car, then she slowed to a walk.
What was she wearing, when you saw her again?
She was wearing a white t-shirt and dark tracksuit bottoms.
Were they wearing a hoody?
No, they must’ve taken it off.
At what point did you arrest her?
As Maddison walked past the car, I got out and arrested her.
