It is used to locate the position of any point on a Cartesian Plane
What is the cartesian plane?
It is made up of 2 number lines that are perpendicular to each other and intersect at 0
What is the horizontal line called?
x - axis
What is the vertical line called?
y - axis
What is the intersection point of the 2 axes called?
The origin
How is a point on the plane identified by?
It is identified by an orderd pair (x, y) where
x is known as the x -ordinate
y is known as the y-ordinate
What is the coordinates of the origin?
(0, 0)
What is the coordinates of the point A?
(3, 5)
What is the coordinates of the point A?
(1, 3)
What is the coordinates of the point B?
(3, 1)
What is the coordinates of the point C?
(-2, 1)
What is the coordinates of the point D?
(1, -2)
What is the coordinates of the point E?
(5, -1)
What is the coordinates of the point F?
