Loneliness:
Being alone for so long and having to fend for himself means that he’s lost all understanding and compassion. Made him cruel and doesn’t understand that Candy’s dog is his only companion and that he values it.
Violence:
Seems to enjoy it, doesn’t shy away from it. Even volunteers himself in the case of Candy’s dog.
