Confidentiality and record keeping - respect confidentiality. Ensure handheld maternity notes contain a full record of care recieved and the results of all antenatl tests
Booking appt
Discuss he need for antenatl care
Offer booking appt. In the first trimester ideally before 10 weeks if she wishes to continue the pregnancy, or offer referral to sex health services if she is considering termination of the pregnancy

Trauma informed care - considering re traumatisation through triggering conversations such as booking question, recognising potential triggers and coping strategies
Assessment — holistic consideration of situation, including housing, finances, social, support, stability, safety
Role of a doula
Improve maternal mental wellbeing

Suppor women to make effective use of maternity services
Intrapartum consideration
Trauma informed care - considering potential exposure t sexual violence and retraumatisation. Discussion process of decision making and consent
Presence of birth partners - doula as an additional birth partner. Financial situation an chaotic lifestyle may impact on birth partner support during labour
Accessibility - consideration of transport costs in latent/established labour may be relieved by offering by offering admission in latent phase (reducing ambulance calls )
Postnatal and neonatal considerations
Safeguarding - awareness of child protection plans, assesment of parenting capacity
Relationship building - support the establishment of family unit, integrating important members to the mother and baby. Promote positive parenting behaviours such as skin to skin contact, love and touch, responding to babys needs
Infant feeding - breastfeeding offers buffering against the effects of poverty for babies born into poverty
Roles in MDT
