What is attachment?
Close two way emotional bond between two individuals who see each other as essential for emotional security
What are examples of attachment behaviours?
- proximity: people try to stay physically close
- separation distress: distressed when attachment figure leaves
- secure base behaviour: explore environment but return to attachment figure for comfort

- adults displayed 1/3 facial expressions and child’s response was filmed
- observation

- imitation occurs at ages as young as 2 weeks
- infants cane make adult faces like sticking their tongue out or opening their mouth meaning imitation is an innate behaviour not learned
