Cards help o boost the performance of an older computer. Ex-Video-what you can see. Sound Card- what you can hear.

Allows you to send information to the CPU to tell the computer what to do(keyboard, scanner) receives information from CPU and translates it into sounds or images we can understand. Ex- monitor, laser, printer.
