Cardiovascular System: Arteries and Veins of the Body Flashcards
Left Coronary Artery
Feeds into the left atrium and left ventricle. Branches into the circumflex artery and the left anterior descending artery. LETHAL IF BLOCKED
Circumflex Artery
Left part of the left coronary artery. Supplies blood to the outer side and back of the heart
Left Anterior Descending Artery
Branches into the left coronary artery. Supplies blood to the front of the left of side of the heart.
Right Coronary Artery
Supplies blood to the right side of the heart
Aorta
Largest artery of the body. Supplies blood all over the body
Abdominal Aorta
Supplies blood to the lower half of the body
Brachiocephalic Artery
Splits into the right subclavian and right common carotid artery
Left/right common carotid artery
Direct branch off aorta, supplies blood to head/neck
Left/right subclavian artery
Direct off aorta, supplies blood to the arms
Axillary artery
Supplies blood to the shoulders
Brachial artery
Carries blood to the upper arms, splits into the radial and ulnar arteries
Radial artery
Supplies blood to the forearms
Ulnar Artery
Supplies blood to the forearms
Common Iliac Artery
Splits from abdominal aorta, carries blood to the legs
Femoral Artery
Supplies blood to the thighs
Anterior Tibial Artery
Supplies blood to the lower leg
Dorsalis Pedis Artery
Supplies blood to the foot
Superior/Inferior Vena Cava
Return blood from upper/lower body
Brachiocephalic Veins
Returns blood from upper limbs, head and neck

Drains blood from shoulder area
Internal/external jugular veins
Drains blood from brain, head, neck and face
Axillary vein
Drains blood from shoulder area

Drains blood from forearms
Ulnar Veins
Drains blood from forearms
Common iliac vein
Drain blood from legs
Femoral vein
Drains blood from thigh
Anterior Tibial vein
Returns blood from lower leg
