16
Q

Veins

A

Thin walls, large lumen, valves, low pressure

17
Q

Capillaries

A

One cell thick, diffusion site, connects arteries to veins

18
Q

Atrial systole

A

Atria contract

19
Q

Ventricular systole

A

Ventricles contract

20
Q

Cardiac diastole

A

Heart relaxes

21
Q

Major blood vessels

A

Vena cava, pulmonary vein/ artery, Aorta, coronary artery

22
Q

Arrhythmias

A

Irregular heartbeat

23
Q

CVD treatments

A

Antihypertensive’s, statins, transplants and immunosuppressants

24
Q

P wave

A

Atrial depolarisation - electrical impulse starts at the SAN and spreads across to the atria, causing them to contract and push blood into the ventricles

25
QRS complex
Ventricular depolarisation, The electrical signal passes through the AVN down the bundle of his and purkinje fibres leading to ventricular contraction
26
T wave
Ventricular repolarisation, this is when the ventricles relax und prepare for the next contraction
27
Cardiac cycle
- Atrial Systole: Atria contract, blood flows into ventricles, AV valves open. - Ventricular Systole: Ventricles contract, blood flows into arteries, AV valves close, semi-lunar valves open. - Cardiac Diastole: Heart relaxes, blood flows into atria, AV valves open, semi-lunar valves close.
