Cardiovascular System Flashcards
Complex body plans
Exchange surfaces internal fluids.
Interstitial fluid
Surrounds buffers cells
Circulatory fluid
Moves material throughout the body.
What are the three Cardiovascular system components?
Pump, Tubes, Fluid.
Pump:
The heart
Tubes:
Vessels
when fluid is open?
Hemolymph
Fluid Closed?
Blood
What are the heart chambers?
Atria and Ventricles
What is Atria’s Job?
It receives blood from the veins
what is the Ventricle’s job?
it pumps blood to the arteries
The mammalian heart is a ?
Double-barreled pump
What are the two Valves of the heart?
Atrioventricular and Semilunar
What does the Atrioventricular Valve do?
It moves blood from the Atria to the ventricles
What does the semilunar Valve do?
It moves blood from the ventricles to the arteries
Blood for is a?
One way flow.
What is the flow of the systemic circuit?
blood flows from the left side of the heart to the body then the right side of the heart
What is the flow of the pulmonary circuit?
blood flows from the right side of the heart to the lungs to the left side of the heart.
What is the job of the systemic circuit?
it delivers oxygenated blood to the body
What is the job of the Pulmonary Circuit?
It take oxygenates blood to the lungs
The heart contracts and Relaxes in?
A Rhythmic Cycle
Mammalian Circulation has
two circuits
Diastole is?
Relaxation (fill)
Systole is?
Contraction (pump)
