Q

Describe diastole

A
  • both atria fill with blood - AV valves closed

- Atrial blood pressure rises, forces open AV valves, blood flows passively into ventricles (SL valves closed)

Q

Describe systole

A
  • both atria contract forcing any remaining blood into ventricles - SL valves stay closed)
  • both ventricles contract increasing ventricular pressure
  • aorta + pulmonary valves are forced open (AV valves closed)
  • blood forced into aorta - travels to body + PA where travels to lungs
