Cardiovascular Response to Stress Flashcards
1
Q
Levick, 2009
A
There are many instances where cardiovascular demand changes e.g during sleep it is reduced by 10% and following a heavy meal it can be increase by 20%
2
Q
Levick, 2009
A
Interstitial fluid compartment contains 10-12 litres of fluid whilst the circulatory compartment contains 3 litres. So the interstitial compartment serves as a reservoir for when cardiovascular demand increases

A
Peripheral oedema is often not detected until interstitial volume in that area has doubled. And pitting oedema occurs because the interstitial conductivity of the fluid is high.
