Cardiovascular Radiology Flashcards
5 basic radiographic densities?
air fat soft tissue/ fluid mineral metal
Analyze a structure for?
size
shape and contour
position
density
Which is better AP or PA?
PA is better
Magnification of objects?
the further away from the film the larger they will be
Inspiration?
Patient should inspire during radiographic
MD PLOTS
Mediastinum Diaphragms Pleura Lungs Osseous structures Trachea Stomach/Soft tissues
Thoracic deformity?
pectus excavatum in the elderly can alter judegment of condition
Other problems that can affect judgement?
pulmonary diseases that depress the diaphram (emphysema)
abdominal diseases that elevate the diaphragm (hepatolmegaly, ascites, pregnancy)
Obesity
Left Atrial appendage?
Can be seen on a CXR
left atrium itself is posterior
normally this is concave
if convex- heart failure, fills up
Ribs in CXR, posterior vs anterior?
posterior- horizontal
anterior- angled down
In left lateral Xray can you see the left ventricle?
no its posterior and lateral
Use oblique angle for?
look for lesions, usually do CT
Hila?
main pulmonary arteries/ return vessels, difficult to interpret
Tell if xray isnt rotated?
spinous process midline
medial border clavicle
Aortal pulmonic window?
AP window, should be concave, not convex, think adenopathy
