Cardiovascular Disorders Flashcards
What are acute coronary syndromes?
- Unstable angina
- Non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI)
- ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI)
What are two types of heart fauilure?
Acute and chronic
What are the types of vascular disorders?
Aortic aneurysm, aortic dissection, and peripheral arterial disease.
What does cardiovascular function do?
- Provides a mechanism for tissue perfusion.
- Tissue perfusion is directly related to blood flow.
- Combination of the “pump, pool, and pipes” influence blood flow.
(Pump is contractility, pool is the fluids, pipes are the blood vessels).
What do the coronary arteries supply?
Blood and O2 to the heart itself.
When do the coronary arteries fill?
During diastole and supply O2 to the heart.
What does decreased diastolic filling time mean?
There is a decrease of amount of blood to the heart, decreasing O2 to the heart, which is why when you become tachycardic, you have chest pain.
What does a 12-lead ECG tell us about the coronary arteries?
Each lead on the 12 corresponds to a different artery of the heart, then we are able to determine which artery might be having an occlusion.
What does the left anterior descending coronary artery supply blood to?
Muscles: Anterior ventricular septum, anterior left ventricle, and ventricular apex.
Tissues: Bundle branches.
If the bundle branches are affected what happens?
QRS is too long, there is a bundle branch block.
