2 causes for anaemia
A
- reduced NORMAL red blood cell formation = nothing to do with overall no. of RBCs, can be too many but not enough normal ones
- bone marrow failure
- chronic kidney disease (reduced erythropoietin
- deficiency in hematinics (folate, B12, iron)
- overall = reduced production, increased losses (peptic ulcer) or increased demand
- normal RBCs but reduced HB
- cant make HAEM
- chronic inflammatory disease
- abnormal globin chain formation via mutation (sickle cell, thalassemia)
