Cardiology science Flashcards
Angina causes
ischemia atheroma cold weather heavy meal emotion
angina symptoms
central heavy tight pain
radiates to neck, jaw, teeth
what is stable angina
increase with exertion, relieved with relax
what is unstable angina
increase in frequency and pain
can happen on minimal exertion
angina on ecg
could show as normal OR st depression OR mi signs
angina management
stop smoking and exercise
aspirin, beta blocker, nitrates
what is acute coronary syndrome
unstable angina
mi
- both have plaque rupture, thrombosis and inflammation
LBBB on ECG
M on v6
Acute coronary syndrome symptoms
central chest pain
lasting +20 mins
nausea, sweat, dysponea, palpitations
can also have no chest pain
Signs of acute coronary syndrome
distress, anxiety, pallor, increase blood pressure
acute coronary syndrome ECG
ECG: ST elevation, tall t waves
acute coronary syndrome bloods
FBC, U&E, glucose, lipids
acute coronary syndrome cardiac enzymes
all should increase:
troponin
creatine kinase
myoglobin
arrhythmia cardiac causes
MI, CAD, LV, aneurysm, pericardist, myocarditis
arrhythmia non cardiac causes
caffeine, smoking, pneumonia, drugs
arrhythmia presentation
palpitations, chest pain, syncope, hypotension, pulmonary odema
arrhythmia blood tests to do
Bloods: all , ca2, mg, TSH
arrhythmia ecg findings
AF, short PR, long QT
arrhythmia treatment - bradycardia and AF
bradycardia - atropine
AF: b blocker or verapamil
atrial fibrilation
irregular
300-600 bpm
AF causes
- HF/ischemia
- hypertention
- MI
- pneumonia
- caffeine
- drugs
- hyperthyroidism
AF symptoms
chest pain palpitations dysponea faintness irregularly irregular pulse
AF diagnostic tests
ecg: no p waves, irregular QRS
blood: fbc, cardiac enzymes
echo: enlarged valve
AF acute treatment
- o2, u&e
- amidarone
