What is major factor of consideration when prescribing alpha1 blockers
•First Dose Effect
– orthostatic hypotension (esp Prazosin)
– transient dizziness, faintness, palpitations, syncope within 1 to 3 hours of 1st dose
– reflex tachycardia
– first dose at bedtime to minimize effect
