MOA: Block aldosterone action
Used in:
- HTN
- HTN and albuminuria
- HTN and CKD stage 3 or higher
- HTN and DM
SE:
- Hyperkalemia
- Cough (MC in female than in men)
- Angioedema
- Dyspnea (independent of cough and angioedema)
- Fetotoxic
CI in pregnancy
Dihydropyridine CCB
Verapamil
Diltiazem
Action: negative inotropic (force of contraction) and negative chronotropic (related to rate) effect
Nondihyropyridine CCB
Amlodipine (Norvasc, Katerzia)
Nicardipine
Nifedipine
Felodipine
Isradipine
Action: vaso-selective
SE: edema, flushing, HA, rash, gingival hyperplasia
** Not inidcated as first line in pts with HTN and hx of stroke
