What are the 4 cardinal rules of firearms safety
Treat all guns as loaded
Always point the muzzle of a firearm in a safe direction
Always keep your finger out of the trigger gaurd until you are on target and have decided to fire
Always be sure your target and be aware of what is behind and around it

Safe direction can be defined as if an unintentional discharge was to occur no human injury and minor property damage would result.
