Cardiac Symptoms Flashcards
Angina
Retrosternal pain, heavy arms or chest, pain in throat or jaw, teeth and down to the armpit, nausea/ vomiting, pallor/diaphoresis
Myocardial infarction
Sever central chest pain, both or one side of the chest, neck jaw arm and back pain, crushing, pallor/ diaphoresis, faintness, giddiness, nausea and vomiting, anxiety, hypotension/hypotension, shallow breathing, grey cyanosis extremeties, irregular pulse,ST elevation or Non ST elevation.
Heart failure
LVF: Pulmonary oedema, dyspnoea, orthopnoea, reluctant to lie down, frothy pink sputum, lung sounds wheeze, crackles pallor, profuse, diaphoresis, cyanosis, agitation, confusion, tachycardia, elevated BP, raised JVP
RVF: peripheral oedema, JVD, weight gain, fatigued, distension, nausea, vomiting, tachycardia, arrhythmia, high BP, a history of MI
Rheumatic fever
Joint pain, swelling, inflammation, pain and shortness of breath.
Cardiac tamponade
Muffled heart sounds, narrowing pulse pressure, hypotension, distended neck vain, pulses paradoxus, pallor/diaphoresis, tachycardia, tachypnoea, altered LOC, history
Pericarditis
Chest pain, neck , back, shoulder, abdopain, sudden sharp stabbing pain behind Breast bone or dull ache, pain increased when lying down or breathing in, fever, chills or sweating. ST elevation in all leads.
Thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms AAA
Back or tearing abdominal pain, hypotension and syncope, pulsating abdominal mass, absent or reduced distal pulses and blood pressure, hypo perfusion. Only in less than 25% of AAA
Sickle cell crisis
Breathless, hypoxia, tachypnoea/tachycardia over a short period of a time
