Cardiac Rhythms Flashcards

Multifocal PVC’s (more than one shape)
irregular with PVC’s
QRS >0.12

ventricular tachycardia
(do they have a pulse with that?)

first degree AV Block
P wave: before each QRS- identical
PR interval: > 0.20
QRS: < 0.12
Characteristics : Regular Rhythm

Ventricular Fibrillation
HR: 300 - 600 bpm
Rhythm: extremely irregular
P waves: absent
PR Interval : absent
QRS: Absent

Second Degree AV Block- Type 1
(AV Wenckebach or Mobitz Type I)
Pwaves: conduction intermittent
PR Interval: Increasingly Prolonged
QRS: < 0.12
Characteristics: QRS dropped in a repeating pattern

Second Degree AV Block - Type II
(Mobitz Type II)
P Wave: sinus
PR Interval: Usually Normal and Identical
QRS: broad > 0.12
Characteristics: Some P waves are not conducted

Second Degree AV Block - 2:1 AV Block
P wave: Sinus
PR Interval: normal or prolonged
QRS: narrow or broad
Characteristics: 2:1 AV conduction

Third Degree (Complete) AV Block
P Wave: normal but not related to QRS
PR Interval: N/A
QRS: Normal or Broad
Characteristics: AV Dissociation

Normal Sinus Rhythm
HR: 60-100 bpm
Rhythm: Sinus
P wave: before each QRS
PR Interval: 0.12- 0.20
QRS: < 0.12

Sinus Arrest or SA Block
Heart Rate: 40- 100 bpm
Rhythm: Irregular
P wave: Identical before each QRS. P to P interval may be fixed before and after the pause
PR Interval: 0.12 to 0.20
QRS: < 0.12

Premature Atrial Complex
(Isolated PAC)
Heart Rate: N/A
Rhythm: Irregular
P Wave: Premature and abnormal, may be hidden
QRS: <0.12

Junctional Rhythm
40-60 bpm
Rhythm: Regular
P Wave: inverted in inferior leads; before, during, or after the QRS; may be absent
PR Interval: < 0.12
QRS: <0.12

Atrial Flutter
HR: 240-350 bpm
Rhythm: A- Regular, V- Regular; group beating or variable
P wave: flutter
PR Interval- N/A
QRS: <0.12

Atrial Fibrillaton
350-650 BPM
Rhythm: Irregular
P wave: absent (Fibrillatory)
PR Interval: N/A
QRS: <0.12
