Cardiac Pressure Waveforms Flashcards
What are the two main wave form crests in atrial pressure waveform?
A and V
What physiologic action produces the A wave?
Atrial contraction
What physiologic action produces the V wave?
The atria filling with blood
What EKG waveforms precede the atrial A and V waves?
The P and QRS respectively.
What are the sub-waves associated with the A wave?
x, c and at times x1
What does the x wave represent?
A decrease in intra-atrial pressures that occurs with atrial relaxation.
What does the c wave represent?
It is thought to be caused by bulging of the AV valves bulging upward.
What is the x1 wave representing?
If the x waves descent is distorted by a c wave, the continued downslope is termed x1 and represents continued atrial relaxation.
What does the Y wave represent?
Atrial emptying into the ?
How would A-fib/flutter affect wave morphology?
the A waves would be replaced by a fibrillatory pattern
