Q
Troponin
A
Cardiac necrosis or MI
Normally is absent in healthy
2
Q
Creatine Kinase (CK)
A
Tissue necrosis or injury
Cardiac version:
- Rises in 3 hours
- Peaks 24 hours
- Normal within 3 days
3
Q
Homocysteine
A
Serum test
Breakdown of AA (?)
Causes vessel inflammation, forms plaque and clots if too high
Can predict Coronary Artery Disease
controlled by B6/12
4
Q
C reactive Protein
A
Produced by liver
Marker for inflammation
Can indicate risk for CAD, linked to Acute coronary syndrome
Appears and disappears quick
Normally rises with autoimmune disease
5
Q
Brain Natriuretic Peptide (BNP)
A
Protein stored in ventricle tissue
Released when ventricular diastolic pressure rises
Ventricular hypertrophy, HTN, CHF, fluid overload
Normal range: under 100pg/mL
Severe range: Over 700pg/mL
