Cardiac Cycle NOT FINISHED Flashcards
1
Q
What is the main cardiac cycle equation?
A
ABP = SV x HR x TPR
2
Q
How long does the cardiac cycle last?
How much of this is diastole/systole?
Are these variable?
A
Cardiac cycle = 850ms
Diastole = 600ms –> can change with exercise
Systole = 250ms –> length doesn’t change
3
Q
What are the 5 stages of the cardiac cycle?
A
- pressure will increase in a chamber when muscle around it contracts
- Valves will open when there is a pressure/energy gradient across them.
- Blood will flow down a pressure/energy gradient
- When valves are open, pressures in neighbouring chambers change together
- When valves are close, pressures in neighbouring chambers can be different
